Should I add anything to my eclectic Wu Shu style?

Bruce Lee (Li Jun-Faan) studied Wing Chun, but he later developed his own "Jit Kun Do". A Sifu Hung combined his Tiger and his wife's Crane plus some moves from the 3 other Shaolin animals and Hsing-I's 5 Element Fist to create the best of the 5 Shaolin family styles. I add styles of Japan, Korea %26amp; Tibet to my "Wu Da Wu Shu". "Wu Da" = 5 Strikes, for 5 symbolizes completeness in China, e.g. 5 peoples, 5 music notes, 5 elements, etc. Wu Shu means Martial Arts. (Kung Fu denotes Great Achievement in any field.) To start you off, I tell you one of my 5 Hits is Chang Jiu Shou Da = Long-Distance Hand Blows. For this, Choi Li Fut's "Windmill Fists" are best, but Northern Shaolin techniques are close. I use about 50% CLF and 40% NS. The other 10% is a mixture of other Chinese Shaolin styles, Japanese Goju Kai, Korean Tae Kwan Do, Tibetian Pak Hak Pai, etc. My other 4 strikes are Jung Jiu Shou Da, Dwan Jiu Shou Da, Di Ti %26amp; Gau Ti. What are they? What styles should I use for them?

Should I add anything to my eclectic Wu Shu style?
I guess that it depends on what you are using this for. If you mean for Wushu competetions and forms competetions then there are a variety. (Jet Li won 5 National Wushu competetions with Fanzi Eagle Claw).

If you mean for actual combat, then go with what you find as effective. (Bruce Lee himself said if you taught a good boxer wrestling, he could beat any Kung Fu master). Best way to find effectiveness is through sparring and competetion. Sanda (San Shou) is great for that.

Additionally i have some questions...

"5 music notes" there are 7 (A-G) far more if you count sharps and flats, harmonics, and the like.

You really seem to know your stuff though, good luck to you. I guess what would help is if you mentioned the purpose of this.

Combat, Wushu forms competetions, personal development, etc.

Good luck to you.
Reply:It depends on your goals. It sounds like you want to be a movie star. If so, the styles you have should suffice, now work on your acting skills.

Becoming a flight attendant?

Can someone answer and offer their advices to the questions below?

1) How can I apply for a flight attendant job for Air France..if I'm not living in France? Is my dream impossible to achieve?

2) I am 170 cm..half way through my double degree uni course, can speak two languages fluently..chinese and english and can manage two more at only a conversational level..french and cantonese... trained in martial arts for a year...fairly healthy but unfortunately..I only have 2 months of experience handling food and have not yet received a first-aid certificate....do I have a chance? also..is there such a thing called 'over-qualifying' in becoming a flight attendant?

thank you

also in your views..what are the pros and cons of becoming a flight attendant?

Becoming a flight attendant?
Hi there,

I don't exactly know why you specifically mentioned Air France because that narrows down your options a whole lot.

Don't worry about previous experiences because they can sometimes be advantageous but NOT a must. I applied for the flight attendant position fresh out of school!

The "over-qualified" bit is sometimes thrown in an interview to see how the interviewee reacts. The interviewers are also concerned that a "highly-educated" person may think she's above the job of delivering a service to the passengers/customers.

I am guessing you are from China or Taiwan? I know Singapore Airlines will think you're an asset because of the languages you speak.

The airline job gives you a lot of free time to pursue your other interests and hobbies. Many of my friends get their degree while flying and others are able to do volunteer work. You gain plenty of experiences and travel opportunities and get to learn about many cultures and see various historical places. Remuneration packages are usually good too.

The disadvantages aren't many but work hours can be long and physically draining and you won't always have days off on festive/special ocassions. Needless to say, you will also spend a substantial amount of time away from home (but this to some is good)

Do visit http://www.newflightcrew.com for more information.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Aud
Reply:Sounds like you are well qualified. I would go to their website and apply.

The pros: lots of travel, see interesting places, meet lots of people.

The cons: away from home a lot, the pay is usually pretty low, extensive travel is hard on the body.

Good luck!
Reply:well this is just an assumption, but since you want to work for Air France, I'd imagine they would prefer if you spoke French.
Reply:most answers are already above me..but I thought you are going to live in France? Change of plan?

If you think you just wish to try out Cabin Crew's position, I know SQ, CX, JAL do employ ppl outside their country. But my advice is, do not make it your career..just earn the free travel whilst you work..then you need to say bye-bye. I have came a cross many applicants of ex cabin crews who could not get a good job after they lingered a few years on this job and when they are out, they are used to luxury travel, food and accommodation, they are too spoilt to start off with a meagre salary due to inexperience. You are even sored when your surrounding colleagues of same age and job got a higher salary than you..

Good luck and tell me if you got one!

Im thinking about moving to australia to live from england. Can anyone give me info on the process?

Details: Im a "semi qualified" musician (although I have being doing pro music work off the weight of my experience for a while including tuition, studio, production and live work), born english, classed as disabled now after being sectioned (epilepsy related illness) a while back but will be shedding that banner and going back to work if I decide to leave the country in the near future.

Main concerns are the fact that I have a pet to consider (a rat) and a small collection of martial arts weapons (nothing particulary lethal btw. a set of blunt cheapo samurai swords, a blunt cheapo refurbished chinese longsword, 2 steel whips, a staff, a wooden 3 section staff and a metal 3 section staff) that I use for training with. How would these factors affect the process. I am well aware of the impliocations of taking animals and what may be viewed as dangerous weapons overseas. My plan once there would be to get any kind of job to get a flat while I set up my music tuition business.

Im thinking about moving to australia to live from england. Can anyone give me info on the process?
Australia is very picky about applicaitons they will accept. They are looking for teachers, and some other qualitifed jobs.

They just do not let anyone come in the country just to live.

They have very tight controls even on if you want to visit, i know it took me months to get oked just to vacation there and that normal.
Reply:Not much call for epilectic vermin loving music hobos in this country.dont bother they wont even take your 20th application.

A movie quite similair to "The Golden Child"???

My boyfriend got me hung up on a martial arts movie, which resembles very much like Eddie Murphy's "The Golden Child", but in THIS film, the reluctant hero is a highly skilled kung fu woman. Unfortunately, the movie he showed me, was all in chinese, and the main title itself was also in chinese....

...can anyone help out, here???

A movie quite similair to "The Golden Child"???
...oh, man!!! Yes!!! You're talking about my favorite martial arts babe, the very beautiful, sexy and dynamic Cynthia Rothrock, in a little action/fantasy ditty, which she did in 1990, called "Prince of the Sun"...

pomegranate

Would someone kindly explain this???

For the life of me, despite being a die-hard and devoted old-school chop socky martial arts fan, I have never been able to figure out what the deal is with chinese vampires...you know, the ones dressed in traditional robes, that hop up and down before they attack, and are supposedly kept at bay and controlled by a slip of paper with chinese characters, tacked upon their foreheads...

...can someone explain to me what the deal is here, or find me a site which can explain it???

Would someone kindly explain this???
...the very unusual, exotic, ghostly and demonically supernatural creatures, which you speak of, are called 'jiang shi', and a real good explanation as to who, what and why they are, is noted below...

Belt system?

How do people keep track in martial arts schools without belt systems? in the future i'm planning to teach chinese Kempo but i don't necessarily want the belt system, because i want to show that whether it's 10 years or one day of experience, everyone is equal. I'm only a sophmore in high school, yes. But i want to plan ahead and think up a few stuff that may help if i ever get my own school.

Belt system?
If you want everyone to be equal, whether it's 10 years or one day of experience, it is something you will have to teach them. The belts system is simple a easier way to tell where someone is in their training. Maybe a have modified system of rank will work for you:

"Upperclassmen" (4+ years~"brown belt")Higer level skilled student, assisting to you with new and "Underclassemen" students),

"Underclassmen" (1 to 3 years~"yellow to green") Students with a strong base, working on their finer techniques now and can work with new students on the basics.)

New Students ( Under 1 year) Main focus is learn the basic and how the classes are run.

This can be simply placed on a board and easily seen by the students. I would like to know who i can go to for help on a specific technique at a glance.
Reply:Well, I've never heard of it. I like that you want to see people as being equal but it wouldn't be good for some one who has had a few days of experience to try and tell someone with a few years of experience what to do. Also, having belts (or sashes) allows younger belts to know who they can go to for help. (When if comes to skill and leadership ability, not everyone is equal)

The way you can do it is by just keeping a list. Also, if your a close net community then everyone will just kind of know.

Well good luck, I hope you come up with what you're looking for =]
Reply:In Muay Thai, almost no groups use a belt system, but select groups use a system called Pra Jihad (I think that's what it's called). For us, that's simply sets of colour coded tape, shorts and wristbands. You get upped for outstanding performance or improvement, or a win, etc. Good thing to think about.
Reply:well its hard to have a studio without some sort of rankings , i say keep the belt system, because new students(white belts) can have someone to look up to and motivate themselves if there are no belts, how will they know that that person is good or not
Reply:you dont need a belt system to know who is good and who is new. At my gym there are no belts or rankings, and on the first day i went there within 5 minutes i could tell who was a "black belt" and who wasnt
Reply:Traditionally, a belt system is a thing of pride and honor. You earn your rank, which is represented (shown, rather) by the color of your belt, which is worn with pride because it was earned with your sweat, heart, dedication, and hard work through martial and personal improvement.

Nowadays, however, it's pretty far degenerated into a 'he who continually pays continually gains rank' type of thing, which is sad. This isn't true for all dojos, but a good deal of them are more focused on cash than proper training.

As far as your own school, when I one day open mine, I'm going to implement an all white belt system in which the rank is shown not with color, but rather rounds of tape at the ends of the belt strands; one for each year that the student has been studying. Just a thought. :)
Reply:If I remember correctly the "belt system" was originally instituted in Japan in the 1830s at a particular Judo (?) dojo. Prior to that time each dojo had it's own system for separating skill levels.

The head instructor took his best pupils and gave them black belts and identified them as "students." All the lesser skilled pupils were not given titles and wore white belts. Also a ranking system ("dan," or "degree") was proposed for levels beyond "student." "Teacher" rank was yon-dan, or 4th degree.

The Idea of a systematic way of distinguishing ranks caught on quickly throughout Japan, and a similar system was adopted by most other martial arts. With the new system everyone below black belt was visually ranked the same and it was common for two unequally-skilled people to be paired, and unintentional injuries were common.

The system of colored belts ranging from novice to "student" (black belt) was a necessity for sparring. It was never a "rank" thing as it is often used/seen in the West, but a safety measure and, at least in modern Japanese culture, a way to mark personal progress.

Other traditional Japanese activities such as Kyudo have similar pre-"student" and post-"student" ranks, even if there is not a colored belt to go with it.
Reply:congratulations
Reply:There's a reason why martial arts schools put in a belt system. My sensei taught us that from the first day by letting 2 students with different ranks demostrate sparring techniques. You can clearly see the difference in training experience.

Ranks are put in so that those with lower ranks will strive to achieve the higher rank.. If there are no belt systems, then where is the respect? How will one improve when he or she knows that they are all equal anyway..

Since I started training my goal was to beat my higher belt seniors.. After 2 years, I still haven't able to achieve that goal. So, good luck with teaching without a belt system. =)

Ok, America is a melting pot, but why do minorites complain?

I always try to understand other cultures that's why I watch a lot of Telemundo, MXC, BET and I try to make friends with all of them. Just like these two Asian guys, I tried to be friends with them but they didn't want to, they said I was stupid. I was talking to them and asked them if they knew Martial Arts, and asked them how I can run across walls like the other Chinese people do. They are stuck up or something.

Ok, America is a melting pot, but why do minorites complain?
Because of questions like this. . .

You don't know what it's like to be a minority until you actually are one. So many racist comments, jokes, and slurs about minorities go right past your head. You don't even know. Even reading the answers to your question, one person actually replied "because theyre ungrateful little shitts."

Disgusting.

Also. . .

"asked them if they knew Martial Arts, and asked them how I can run across walls like the other Chinese people do."

That is highly, highly offensive. Just how much more ignorant could you get?

Perhaps it's not them that is stuck up.

Maybe you're just annoying.

Actually, not maybe. You ARE annoying. You definetely annoy me when you say "I always try to understand other cultures that's why I watch a lot of Telemundo, MXC, BET and I try to make friends with all of them."

You honestly expect me to believe that you "always try to understand other cultures"?

So I guess that's why you assume that the two Asian guys were Chinese, all you know is the typical Chines ninja martial art Hollywood stereotype.

Even the fact that you asked "why do minorites complain?" shows that you DO NOT "always try to understand other cultures."

And, by the way, watching television isn't exactly the greatest way to understand and learn about different cultures. It only shows certain aspects. Do you even know what sinization means? Xenophobia? There are so many different levels for every culture. Agrarian economies, unified languages, patriarchal socieites, religious influences, beliefs, geopolitics. . .

So, the answer to your question is....

YOU are the reason minorities complain.
Reply:when you become a minority then you will know why!!
Reply:Because they are at the bottom of the pot.
Reply:America is not a melting pot.... it is more like a mixing pot. If you observe people more carefully, melting in the sense of culture has not happened yet. People are mixed and are comfortable (in most part) with each other - and that is the extent of "melting" at this moment.

By the way, have you ever thought how silly it is for you to assume, just because they are Asian know martial arts? (and how many times they have been asked that question before?)
Reply:America's not a melting pot, it's a mud puddle. People were expected to assimilate before, but now they keep thier old customs and basically try to build a small version of thier old country here. If it was so great, why did they come here in the first place? To rape the system. Those who assimilate are welcome, it's just most don't. Multi-culturalism is just a dummy term for appeasement and surrender.
Reply:By being part of a minority, people are susceptible to a whole lot of subject. Just like the Chinese, I'd hate if you ask me if the African leave in a tree or if we have cars in Africa. That's just dumb to ask. You don't make friends the way you tried to. Find better approach.
Reply:Though I don't agree with what you asked them, and it was a silly question.. and the your questions is probably why they don't like you and called you unintelligent, not because they were stuck up
Reply:I am a minority member as defined by race but I don't see myself as something different than an American and I can say that many people do see themselves as something other than American. I am second generation and I just want to be an American. The whole US culture is a mix of so many cultures. The language has many Spanish terms as well as other languages. Entertainers and popular culture provides avenues to express our heritage as do sports and television, etc. I know that many have come to the US just to hang out and to be sure I cannot say that everyone comes here now to be all they can be. I do not see the US as a white country as many people do because I am not even sure that white people are still a majority here. Much of what we here is really very racist toward traditional, multi generation white Americans. Thats not fair. Whites (Anglos) have done much to make this country the place we want to be and we should not allow radical community activists to try to make a race war in this country and its easy to use race hatred as a political device. The US is a great place but you still have to work very hard to get ahead and make it. I see whites doing that everyday and I have never been halted in my struggle for prosperity because I am a minority group member. This country is only great if we are together. I will do my part.
Reply:Well that is the problem that we are having with these illegals, because America is supposed to be a melting pot. But they want to don't want to assimilate or melt in if you will. Are most beloved immigrant asked them to assimilate and he was called a racist for it.
Reply:It seems you were stereotyping Asian people and that's probably why they were insulted by your question.

I don't understand the reasoning of some people..If you wish to become an American citizen, why would you want to cling on to the things that made you leave your home country in the first place. Why is assimilation so difficult or so fought against by the people that come here from Latin country's? No one wants you to forget where you came from but wouldn't you be offended if I came to your home and criticized everything in it and decided to redecorate your home the way I wanted to .Regardless of the fact that I was not invited there and maybe illegally in your home. Just how would you expect me to react?

http://usawakeup.org/HowToDestroyAmerica...
Reply:The problem is that when immigrants come to the US today, they are encouraged NOT to assimilate. When they don't assimilate, there is a natural resentment toward them. In turn, they begin to dislike the rest of us. It is called divide and conquer. Politicians have been using it for years to control people.

The concept of "multiculturalism" is really just an attempt to destroy our common culture. The idea that you refer to a Christmas party as a holiday party so that you don't offend non-Christians is absurd. Why would a non-Christian be offended? If you were in Iraq and you were invited to a Ramadan feast, would you be offended?

The reason for all the whining is because these people don't like how they are treated when they don't assimilate. Anyone, from any country can become a good American, but like they say: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".
Reply:At first I thought this was a joke question, but reading it a second time, I think you are probably serious. Couple of questions for you....

Why do you think an Asian person should want to be your friend?

Did it occur to you that your question was stupid and they didn't want to be friends with a person who would ask a question like that?

I have often dealt with white people trying to understand other cultures. I do not feel obligated to assist them in their little experiments. I ignore them when them ask me stupid questions about my hair, or rap music, or try to talk "black" to me. Maybe they think I am stuck up, maybe I don't think they are worth my time. America is a melting pot, but some minorites are tired of doing all the melting.
Reply:i donno guys... I'm use to the stupid or silly questions, I just try to understand what made person ask it in a first place. And most people by the way know that they do stereotype and apologize for it beforehand, but they still are curios about different countries and cultures, so why make them stop asking? until most of Americans will know better about the world outside i am determine to answer any stupid question.
Reply:Because white people are usually stuck up and think they are better than everybody else.

When doing any block?

When you do any block in Martial arts which do you prefer and why soft blocks or hard blocks example: Chinese styles are more soft blocks where Japan styles are more hard?

When doing any block?
I guess for me it depends on the moment.

I have trained in both arts, soft and hard and for me their is a time and place for each of them. I use both Soft and Hard blocks when I spar or fight.

It is good to use both and be multi sided.

ODD: I agree with you beatchanter gave you both a thumbs up, not sure who would give you a down.
Reply:you'd better be blocking hard or you'll get beat the hell up
Reply:different ones for different situations.
Reply:The style I was taught was to block hard every time, try to break the other persons limb with your block..... but the problem with this is: what if they throw a combination and you give your balance and focus to one attack... while you are performing the perfect, devastating block you got hit with the second and third attack (unless you have had 20 years of training)... boxers dodge or absorb attacks with their hands to keep them in better postion for a counter or return attack... akkido teaches deflection right? I think in some circumstances all are right. Depending on what the attack is, but remember the most important thing about defense is not to get hit by the attacker, if you have the opportunity to perform a devasting block go for it, but it is much more likely that you can deflect or dodge you oppents attack and stay awake to perform one of you own.
Reply:BLOCKS CAN BE STRIKES //STRIKES CAN BE BLOCKS

TO THINK OF ANY MOVE AS A BLOCK IS TO THINK DEFENSIVELY .DO YOUR BLOCK SO HE HAS TO GO TO DEFENSE MAKE HIM THE DEFENDER.
Reply:thats a very tricky question that is in the chinese martial arts the block becomes a strike and the strike can also be a block or a parry plus most chinese arts contain both soft and hard techniques based on the concept of yin and yang and ideally i believe its neccesary to train both, for example if im suddenly attacked with a knife in an uppercut motion i could apply a downward cross block which i see as a hard block, but ideally id prefer to use the attackers force against him evade and use a soft parrying type of block however you percieve it so you see i like kungfu i guess : )
Reply:I use a mixture of both.

I don't know title of the movie?

I saw this movie like 5 yeas ago. This movie was about chinese girl who had green eyes and she was kineped by evil man. He wanted to marry her to get more power. But he didn't just kidneped chinese girl, but also he kidneped an American girl. And chinese and I think American guy comes to rescue. This movie includes a lot of martial arts, and magic. I think this movie in category fantasy.

I don't know title of the movie?

IMDB summary:

Somewhere in the Eighties, trucker Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) arrives in a small town to deliver his cargo and win a few bucks playing cards with the locals down at the Chinese market. Practically bankrupting nearly all of his opponents, his friend Wang (Dennis Dun) bets him a game of "double or nothing" to try and regain his cash and loses. Jack wants his well earned money, but Wang explains he doesn't have the cash on him and that'll he pay later because he's due to pick up a long, lost girlfriend from the airport. The cast also includes Kim Cattrall, Victor Wong, and Kate Burton (Richard's daughter!).

I saw "green eyes", and I knew which movie this was because I must have seen it at least 100 times (probably more) throughout these two decades. In fact, I was attending a science fiction convention in St. Louis when an executive from 20th Century Fox did a presentation about the upcoming releases following the success with "Alien" and in honor of the fans of "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai"~including me~who were going to be attending. He showed clips and promotional material for "The Fly" remake, "Aliens" and "Big Trouble in Little China", which is by the guys who did "Buckaroo Banzai".

I always wonder why I am picked last in sports, smirked at by girls, etc.

I consider myself good looking, I am confident, athletic (I even know a bit of martial arts.) and naturally gifted in singing, drawing and cooking.

But does being Chinese have anything to do with it? I'm in my second year of highschool.

Well all I can say is that, part of it is racism I guess, there are just some people out there who think there are so superior than others! However, don't get too affected about it,it only makes you feel inferior..

Katana (Sword) w/ writing?

I have a katana that I bought at a martial arts tournament (The same sword is sold on the Asian World Martial Arts website) It's red abd black and has some sort of (Chinese???) writing on the blade. I was wondering if anyone knows what the writing says?

Katana (Sword) w/ writing?
first off, that's Japanese, not Chinese. i understand that its hard to tell, so don't think I'm trying to be a know it all or something. but yeah, i really don't know what it says, but i have a katana with similar writing on it. it looks like a kinda low quality katana, probably decorative only. sorry. hope you didn't shell out too much for it.
Reply:if u no the site it is sold at email them and ask what it means they might no
Reply:I'll be nice. At $20.00 it is DECORATIVE only. If you are studying iaido it is good to pratice "cuts" in the air. If you are studing any style with sword than it is a decent practice sword. If you want to break it hit something hard, like another sword. A Demonstration (what some call Live Steel) blade will run over $100 dollars for a "starter" blade. Watchout price means nothing... I have seen swords for $400 dollars that are decorative. There are 2 schools of thought in relation to Carbon steel blades. A "good" cutting/demonstration ("real sword") will run in the thousands of dollars. Find someone that knows blades and have them suggest a sword that fits your needs and price. If all else fails contact "Badger" and purchase one of their blades.

Does this really happen???

well my father said he used to do alot of martial arts and fighting styles and then he had me, after years past by i am so good and athletic, and that type of fighter who catches up in alot of things, well my question is did my father past those talents to me?? or is it just a coincidence. and all my friends are impressed b'cuz i am so good at fighting and acrobatics, also i didnt really take to much martial arts i am lazy sometimes, but yes i pratice usually. im chinese and korean, so my friends assume im really talented is b'cuz im asian which im not offended of, im actually proud of myself.

Does this really happen???
Some of it is genetic. Some of it your own.
Reply:50 -50 has to be.. since his like muscles and flexibility should hve gone to you..
Reply:It's partially because of your genes. I'm the same here. Me= balckbelt. Yep, be proud of our asian culture. =) But you also trained your stamina and you are the one who makes your strength grow.
Reply:Could be either. You may have inherited certain physical traits and talents that he has that made you more able to be a martial artist, which is pretty like likely, because it is possible , but not very likely, that you didn't inherit anything from him that woulhave helped you, but you just by chance happen to have other traits that also make you prone to being good at martial arts.

How's that for a vague answer?
Reply:Though some behavior is genetic, I think that its a coincidence because you cannot be born good at something such as martial arts and fighting styles.
Reply:There's no evidence that your father could have passed on particular martial arts skills to you. For instance you wouldn't be good at Judo if your dad had done Judo, but good at Karate if he'd done Karate.

However, athletic people tend to have athletic children. That's genetically likely. Moreover, many martial arts, like Tae Kwon Do, were designed over many many years for relatively small groups of people (relative to the world's population).

What that means is that the forms of many stances and katas work better for people who are built like the people who developed the martial arts. I used to do Tae Kwon Do, but I had trouble getting the footwork just right in some cases because I have a different leg-length to torso-length ratio than most Koreans.

So, the relationship between your father's skill at martial arts and yours is probably based on share genes for athleticism and similarly good fit for the martial arts he exposed you to.
Reply:I am of nordic descent traditionally long limbed and flexible which I am.This has helped me greatly in some aspects of MA so I would say it's genetic.I dont think ASIAN has anything to do with it physically but other non physical factors may figure in also.Depends how you were brought up.
Reply:It all depends on what way you like to see it. in my biotech class we've discuss this. If your father is going to be a doctor, are you? since there we only know what a small number of genes out of many, function for. the unknown genes could possibly be for that, but two twins seperated at birth living in different cities, both became firemen, both married a girl with the same hair color, both divourced them, and then remarried another girl who both have similiar attributes. If you wanna think its genetics go ahead, if not dont. i mean you see alot of skinny dads out there with fat kids... and imm pretty sure those fatties cant run as fast as their dads. but i think its mostly because youve been exposed to it more.
Reply:as u said u r lazy n dont practise alot in martial art but then also u r good at fighting so ya there is possibilites of yr father chromosome
Reply:Some of it is genetic. Some of it your own
Reply:training practice not hereditary
Reply:Some of it is genetic and sure could be in your blood from your dad. Some of it is state of mind .... rock on bro
Reply:You may have inherited some physical trait. That's all. Some people are naturally talented.

Perhaps your father trained around you when you were little.

Stop using the arm for several days and see how things go. If pain continue's, consult a health professional.

See your doctor of course as soon as possible. If you have dizziness, fever, severe pain, or any other odd symptoms don't wait on the doctor but instead go to the emergency room.

Injuries are part of athletics. Proper training can greatly reduce the severity of injuries in the future. That black mark is most likely just a bruise. I am sure you have had bruises before. I would hold off on the ice until you see a doctor unless you have swelling. Trying to practice what you haven't been trained for is what caused this injury in the first place.

If you have to use ice then limit the contact to 10 minutes only. Never apply ice directly to your skin, instead use a cloth of some sort and pay attention to the time or you will end up with frost bite too. I hope you didn't do any permanent damage here, but this is why people are telling you to see a doctor. Injuries will often appear to heal then you have real troubles a few years later.
Reply:Consult immediately ur doctor!!!!
Reply:Sounds like you just bruised it badly. An x-ray will only tell for sure though. In the mean time you can ice your elbow twice a day for about 10 to 15 minutes. You can also rub some tiger balm or other liniment to help with the soreness.
Reply:Try some good dit da jow. It's great for bruises and slight sprains and strains.
Reply:By all means seek medical advice... then realize that maybe you need to learn how to do that stuff properly from someone who knows what their doing!!

I bet you were one of those kids who tied a towel around his sholders and jumped off a roof because he watched a superman movie. You can't learn martial arts from watching something on TV.
Reply:There is a possibility of a few things going on here.

One is just a good ol fashioned bone bruising, (will cause swelling, some discoloration after few days as the blood raises to the surface of the skin.

Second is possibly a compression injury to the joint. More than likely hopefully nothing too serious. As you are still able to use it somewhat, it doesn't sound too bad.

First and foremost, you need to get it under control and get movement back to normal, whether this is a compression injury or just a bruised bone, still the same treatment applies.

RICE.

Rest,

Ice,

Compression,

Elevation.

Rest your elbow, that means no lifting, no heavy exercise, no leaning on it, and definately no hitting anything with it. Take an anti inflammatory such as aspirin, or ibuprofen. Rest the joint.

Ice it down, this reduces swelling and are the first steps in restoring mobility by reducing the swelling in the joint (one of the reasons you can't bend your arm).

Compression: Wrap that bad boy up, it will help with resting as you provide a stable support for it. (Doesn't really help a bone bruise too much, but is good to keep you continously damaging your soft inflammed tissue.

Elevation: When resting or hanging out, try to keep your elbow elevated above your heart, again this will help reduce swelling and get you on the road to restoring mobility.

If you are still experiencing pain and swelling after a week of doing this, you should probably consult a doctor and have them take a look at it.

One thing that will help, is the black mark a few inches away from where it actually hurts? More than likely you are experiencing a deep tissue or bone bruise. As the black mark isn't normally a sign of a compression injury.

Now, is the helpful part.

Sandbags are damn horrible things to be hitting for a ground and pound drill, and you will injure yourself over and over again. Sand compacts, and essentially makes it become like cement, I do not reccomend striking sandbags, as they will hurt you more than help you.

Second,

Don't get me wrong, but essentially you do not do MMA, Sanshou, or kickboxing if you are doing it alone. You need someone to show you how to do these things properly, and additionally you need training partners, sparring partners, etc.

I understand that these things cost money, or you do not have availability for that sort of thing at the moment. But you want to prepare yourself.

But you are not practicing any art by hitting sandbags in your bag yard. You are simply hitting sandbags in your backyard.

Without someone to spar, develop timing and defense, you more than likely will develop bad habits. Additionally without someone to throw, you aren't do Sanshou.

I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but there are people who are dedicate and take this stuff seriously, who would find it insulting that you say your practice Sanshou (when you are spelling it wrong), and would laugh at you when you say you train yourself in MMA.

Now, here is some ways to help you until you are able to get the facilities, ability to pay for, and coaches you need.

First off, forget sandbags. They will seriously screw you up.

Head to walmart, you know those boat cushions or staduim cushions (little square custions about 2 inches thick, for like 1.99 or so) buy you a couple of those. Use the straps to wrap it around a tree may have to use a nail or two, (on the straps, not on the cushion) and put it all on a firm tree. Put them about face level (I suggest two deep for the face level one) and another about thigh level to the side (again two or three deep)

This is essentially your heavy bag, kind of like what Martial Artists call a makiwara, but way safer and will allow you to develop a little power, in addition to bone conditioning somewhat safely.

Next, you can spend about 10 bucks at any sports store and get what is called a "headache bag" this is essentially a bag with a rope on the top and the bottom, that is bungy like in material. It will allow you to develop speed and accuracy.

To practice knees, you actually really need a tear drop bag or a partner. With your boat cushions, you can double them and have them work as Thai pads. If you get a partner you can work some Thai pad drills.

http://stickgrappler.tripod.com/mt/kk17....

http://www.thaiboxing.com/tba-technique2...

Actually Thaiboxing.com has a lot of good information.

I realize actual Thai pads cost money, but you can use a lot of cushioning and you and a partner can work to do better.

All of this will only help you get prepared for actually working out at a place, then prepare to have every strike you do changed and honed. Perhaps changed completely from the bad habits you are already doing.

Without having a real coach to show you, it is very easy to be hitting wrong (not using your hips, etc).

Good luck with your injury man.

Btw, I suggest taking up wrestling at high school, that will seriously help you if you want to actually do Sanshou or MMA. Cung Le credits that as one of his primary reasons for success in Sanshou.

Good luck with all of your training, take it easy on the elbow. For god's sake get rid of the sandbags, those things will have you breaking something soon.

Hope that is of some help, message me if you want any clarification or I can help you find some affordable training in your area.

Best of luck.
Reply:Sounds like you damaged your joint, go to a doctor inmediately!

Don't try just to emulate what you see on TV, as you can't fully see the technique behind the moves, and can potentially damage yourself as you already know.

If you'd like to learn martial arts, join a gym with qualified instructors who will guide you, so you don't injure yourself.
Reply:For some immediate, but probably not substantial relief, take a couple of Advil. It'll help with the inflammation. I hurt my hip last week and didn't think of the Advil till last night. It was like a miracle drug! lol Good luck, and don't be trying to kill sandbags with your elbow anymore.

Are Asian people offended when someone assumes that...?

they know martial arts or they only want to eat at the chinese or japanese food places? Anybody else? What sterotypes bother you? (this is open to all races)

Are Asian people offended when someone assumes that...?
I know I get insulted so much I want to rip the persons head off when the say, "your son will be bruce lee!!!!!!!"

I know my child is half asian and half american, but he is also something more than a karate person, he is a human being.
Reply:Doesn't bother me. It's silly. And yes, I am asian, although my avatar doesn't look like it. It's because I don't either!
Reply:I'm not Asian, but I know a lot of Asians. They do get offended if you automatically assume they're all Chinese - or worse, if you assume they're Japanese. It seems like most non-Japanese East Asians really don't like the Japanese. Given the history, I can understand why . . .
Reply:how about they all have cameras, or bad drivers..
Reply:no
Reply:because I am from the South of USA television and movie stereotypes of Southerners bother me. We don't have outhouses. We have the same IQ ratio as the rest of the nation. We are not more prejudiced against minorities than the rest of the nation.

Pluses are a lower cost of living here. Friendly people with manners. We are in the Bible Belt and there are churches literally all over the place.
Reply:None, and I think it's time for a few stereotypes for old white men. How come we are discriminated against with no stereotypes. The more I think about it the angrier I get. This is wrong and something needs to be done about it. We need more stereotypes.

Since I can't do stereotypes of my "in-group" I can give some clues. How about: All old white men are greedy, bigoted fundamentalist evangelical Republicans. Or, When they are young they may have a narrow waist and broad mind but as they get older it switches.
Reply:I am bothered by all stereotypes. My favorite is those who after speaking to me think I am white because I "sounded white on the phone" What the heck does that mean. I don't use slang terms and I speak properly so that makes me white? People are just Dumb.
Reply:I am a white American living in China with countless Chinese friends (grew up in Hong Kong) and most of my friends simply ignore gauche comments. However they are very astute about other countries and do not stereotype. They know much more about America than many Americans, but the knowledge extends to many nations, culture and customs. Most Chinese students can easily recite the names of ten American cities but few Americans could name ten Chinese cities. There are more people studying English in China than the total number of people is the US...they don't stereotype...they know.
Reply:Those seem like neutral stereotypes. Like knowing karate and liking asian food, I don't know if they're really offensive, maybe.

All races seem to like the positive stereotypes like "good at math" and hate the negative stereotypes like "bad driver".
Reply:Isn't most people offended or at least upset when someone assumes something about them, whether it's racially motivated or not. Especially if it doesn't represent what they are about at all. I hate it when people find out I'm an accountant and automatically assume I'm good at math, then make fun of me when I can't add numbers in my head.
Reply:My least favorite stereotypes are:

Everyone from Arkansas is a redneck

Everyone from the south is racist

All Christians judge gay people

All Americans hate all muslims

All fat people are lazy

All super thin girls have an eating disorder

All black people speak ebonics and listen to rap music

All hispanics are illegal

All african americans are black (Charlize Theron was born in South Africa but she lives in America now. African American, or just African?)
Reply:The Clinton administration proved people from Arkansas definitely weren't all Rednecks.

It proved a lot of them were liers.
Reply:I hate it when people try to imitate an Indian accent. Or when they start mocking Asian names. I would honestly give these people the gas chamber if I had the chance.
Reply:being assumed as those stereotypes doesn't bother me at all. I rather feel sorry for myself that i didn't learn Karate to show people some performance or anything I can't answer well about Japanese and Asian culture when they ask.

but when it's so wrong ..like.. "do Japanese eat snakes?!"

yes, it bothers me.

and when I'm judged by someone I don't know because of my being Japanese.. like.."you guys are cruel killing whales"..i don't want start IWC on the street, it's not about me really..?

however, usually I'm happier when I hear those stereotypes than being considered as another stranger and ignored.
Reply:I am an Asian a Filipino i don't get easily offended by any comment for that matter. But this is a sure thing that could blow my tops off, when we are called a "brown monkey". And when my fellow Filipino are being treated as slaves, because we came from a third world country. It seems that their gray matters are the only one functioning, but not ours. Do you believe this? I would appreciate it very much if you will, because this is happening as of this moment, in the far away land of the middle east.
Reply:I hate it when people say that we cant drive.
Reply:Stereotypes in Asians eyes.

For example when I found Asian girl face offered by Yahoo avatar, I was so sad. That seems to only one Asian girl face on Y! Ava tor and that is the face with eyes slanting upward (an angle of almost 45 degrees). You can see such eyes in this question's page as well.

Someone chew on this one for me, please???

...it was a weird and surreal old-school chop socky movie, about a master swordsman, who falls for the beautiful leader of a supernatural/religious sect; however, unbeknownst to the swordsman, his new girlfriend used to be a man, and was turned into a woman, after stealing an ancient scoll, containing mystic martial arts powers...

...I remember seeing this one, in a chinese theater up in San Francisco, but I never got the title of the film...

...can anyone help???

Someone chew on this one for me, please???
...well, the answer to your question is actually, and kinda/sorta IN your question; you're talking about the dynamic and breath-taking 1992 martial arts fantasy, "Swordman II", which starred Jet Li and Brigette Lin (...who was the transgendered character, in this film)...

...check it out, here!!

Why so few movies set in contemporary China?

I can think of just a couple movies set in China after the 1930's but TONS set in the years and centuries before. ALL the martial arts movies are set in the past. Does the Chinese gov't forbid them? If so, why don't they make them outside of China. I doubt there'd be a problem finding people of Chinese descent to act in them.

Why so few movies set in contemporary China?
There are tons of movies set in contemporary China it's just that they don't get released in America unless you go to a Chinese movie store and rent/buy them. All the martial arts movies are set in the past because if they were set in modern times, the bad guy will just a gun and shoot people.
Reply:I think there are many contemporary movies set in China, but many of them don't make it to America because the plots are so similar to ours anyway. However, martial arts movies are so great because Hollywood usually don't produce anything like that and the Chinese are just so excellent at making them.
Reply:Chinese are common people having the same common troubles in a big global city. So what's new? nothing in special interests... There are like european or aussie movies with different actors.

Many people don't have a minimum interest on seeing two hours chinese people in its crowded cities having troubles, mobs, inloves or fantasies. They are more interested on Internet and high tech than old fashion movie teathers....

For me the most interesting topics for China are Food, culture and Martial arts, so no more interests, it's too common any other cutural influence!!

Have a nice day!!
Reply:I do not believe the Chinese allow foreigners to film there.

I also play the piano with Credit at 8th grade. Planning to get 2 years of work experience by the time I apply.

Please rate my possibility of admission out of a scale of 10. (10 being almost certain, 0 being impossible)

Also welcome to add any suggestions on subjects or acticities to make it more likely for a position.

Is it possible for me to be admitted to Harvard College?
No, not studying history would not hurt you as an international student. However, Harvard is one of the most selective schools in the world, who turned down thousands of people with perfect records last year. Being ranked 10-15th/150 is just not likely to be good enough for them - if you aren't #1 or 2, they probably aren't going to be interested. Your SAT scores might make a difference, but given what you have told us, I would have to rate your possibility as a 2.
Reply:We need your SAT score; your academic record, not just your class rank, which I might add is average.

International Admission is insanely hard, especially for Harvard. Harvard only accepted 8.7% of all its national applicants, with the international rate way lower. In order to be competitive as a international; you would need near perfect rank, SAT, SAT II.

Dietary difficulties??

I do martial arts and regularly take strong vit/min supplements, chinese herbs, protein supplements and energy products to help with workouts and stuff. I used to be a fatazz after I put on a good few waist inches as a result of some crappy epilepsy tablets the doc gave me. Im off those now and have lost the extra weight and am back down to my old weight as a result of dieting and working out. Problem is, I still dont feel hungry very much when it comes to real food. Im assuming this is bad. Is there something I should include or cut out or cut down on to get my appetite back? I dont really want to force myself to eat but I dont want to be a skeleton either.

Dietary difficulties??
You can buy protien shakes for weight gain the only other thing i can suggest is to slowly build up your daily food intake by adding extra food gradually your body will get used to it. If you've dieted and stuff for a while your stomach will have shrunk.
Reply:Go back to your DR and ask to see someone to do with dietary and they will tell you how to keep your weight stable
Reply:Cut down on the protein supplements. Since protein digests slower you don't feel hungry as soon as you would expect.

You can always add the calories back into your diet through real foods, as opposed to supplements, high in protein. Nuts, eggs, cheese, and low-fat cuts of meat are all good for you, provided you're not allergic to any of it.

I hope you guys don't mind a dumb question?

I used to live in California at one time and I noticed a good number of Chinese MA clubs. Run by people of Chinese ancestry. If China's Emperor were to visit California, what kind of reception would he get from the Chinese community in California and also from the many martial arts groups there?

Max

I hope you guys don't mind a dumb question?
Interesting question.

If the queen of England came to visit, what kind of reception would she receive from the English-descendant people?

Some people would be amuzed, the majority would be nice out of respect, and others wouldn't really care.

I think it'd be a similar case with the emperor of China.
Reply:OK, first of all, I'm in China right now, and you're stuck in the past. Fyi, that is sort of insulting, as we're not in the past and we have presidents right now. Just letting you know

Umm, welll, I doubt that he would that openly go into Martial Arts clubs, but he'd probably be treated pretty well and with priority, as he is a head governmental person.
Reply:all of the Californians would engage in MORTAL KOMBAT , to please the emperor, lol , thanks for the good laugh kid.
Reply:I see very little interest in the Chinese community in California for bringing the Imperial Family back to power in China.

I think that members of the Chinese community in California would like to meet any members of the Imperial Family, especially the Emperor, and they would certainly be very pleasant, in fact they would be honored, but I would be very suprised if you could find any significant level of interest to restore the Imperial Family to power in China.

I know that you think that I am unprofessional based on your reply to some of my other posts. I understand. People have been telling me that they think that I am unprofessional for years. That is nothing new.

I am very happy for you that you represent the Imperial Family, however, even though I am involved with a group that opposes human rights violations by the current group of people that are in power in The People's Republic of China, I see no significant amount of support in the Chinese community in California to return the Imperial Family to power in China.
Reply:This may be the most intelligent question I have ever seen in this section.

I have no idea what California is like, I would hope for a warm reception from the community for an Emperor.
Reply:Actually, the last generation of Emperors in China were hated by the Chinese because they were actually foreigners who conquered China. The Yuan Dynasty which was established by the Mongols who conquered China in the 13th century under the rule of Kublai Khan was one. The Mongols were later overthrown by a peasant revolt which lead to the founding of the Ming Dynasty by the ethnic Hans of China. But 300 years later, the Ming Dynasty was overthrown and China was conquered by the Manchus of Manchuria who established the Ching Dynasty and ruled until the 20th century when the last of the Manchu Emperors, Puyi abdicated the throne to give way to the Nationalists headed by Sun Yat Sen who wanted to establish a Chinese Republic in 1912. So any descendants of the Manchu Emperors would not be that welcome as most people would think, their rule was marked by excesses and the Chinese people suffered a lot during those times. Westerners would probably pay more respect to them because of the western fascination with Chinese history. Furthermore, most of the later generation Emperors were effeminate and sickly and spent more time on vices like wine and women than on the practice of martial arts. It's the Generals and officers under their command and the rebel leaders opposing the government who were more known for their Martial arts prowess.

Princeton entry?

i need to get a scholarship into princeton psychology department!!!!! I have all A- and up (92% and up) except for science (B+, 88%) I also participate in sports (soccer) and extra curricular (piano, drawing, martial arts) and know 3 languages (English Spanish Chinese)

what else????????

Princeton entry?
Unfortunately Princeton does not offer merit based scholarships. All Ivy League schools only offer need based financial aid. As far as acceptance goes....there are a few things that you haven't mentioned above. What is your GPA? What grade are you currently in? AP's? SAT's?

Getting into Princeton is TOUGH! Your application needs to be compelling to stand out among the 18,000 other applicants with great credentials.

Kendo issue is too famous, and now Xmas, soccer issues. Why Korean lies that they have the roots of those?

I'm an historian mostly work on Asian histories. So fortunately I've seen tons of literatures enough not to be a credulous sheep about those asian cultures, and I think it's quite funny seeing Koreans inroads foreign cultures such as Soccoer, Xmas, All Languages, British people, European cultures, Chinese cultures, Japanese cultures and its original martial arts are Originated in Korea they say so....

Too me and all historians this phenomenon is just hilarious but I simply wonder why they keep inroading foreign cultures with absolutely no evidences.

Although I'm clean and familier to official documents and literatures of history as I have seen in my eyes, I wish if someone could tell me what's the matter with them.

I have spoken to Chinese historian about this "taking overs" cuz I thought Chinese and Japanese might know Korean people more than I do, but I guess not...

Excuse for my poor English but I really need help from someone who's familier to thier actions.

Kendo issue is too famous, and now Xmas, soccer issues. Why Korean lies that they have the roots of those?
Confucian tradition has dominated Korean thought, along with contributions by Buddhism, Taoism, and Korean Shamanism. Since the middle of the 20th century, however, Christianity has competed with Buddhism in South Korea, while religious practice has been suppressed in North Korea.

According to 2003 statistics compiled by the South Korean government, about 46% of citizens profess to follow no particular religion. Christians account for 27.3% of the population and Buddhists 25.3%.

Koreans valued scholarship and rewarded education and study of Chinese classic texts; Yangban boys were highly educated in Hanja. In Silla, the bone rank system defined a person's social status, and a similar system persisted through the end of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, the gwageo civil service examination provided paths of upward mobility.

Modern Korean education system, however, has been heavily criticized for its emphasis on mechanical and passive learning and memorizing, resulting in lack of creativity and strong personality. The critiques cite that while many Korean students have above-average math abilities, seriously lack creative and progressive thinking.
Reply:As a cracker who practices Hapkido (A Korean art)

I cannot even pretend to be a expert but in my experiences with Koreans they are over confident and far too prideful of a people to be taken seriously. They all like to say I have no basic concept of Hapkido but I win (or used to win until I quit studying) there exhibitions and they would bad mouth me because again I'm a cracker

What is the most blatant lie that anyone has told you?

Someone I work with told me that when he was training martial arts that Mr Miyagi (the little chinese guy from karate kid) was his trainer and he wasn't trying to be funny.

What is the most blatant lie that anyone has told you?
A gay acquaintance of mine told me that He met the guys from "designer guys" ( a T.V show hosted by two gay men)

Then He proceeded to say that he and his friends were critiquing the fashion faux pas of different people!... then the guys are like "you guys are really cool!" then they invited him and his friends over to their table (due to their high sense of fashion) They then proceeded to have dinner and exchanged phone numbers... they had a blast that evening!

Turns out this guy he was 'hanging out' with wasn't even in the country. We confronted this weird friend saying we know he was lying but still swears blind he was telling the truth.

Did Jackie Chan just quit trying?

I find his English a lot better in his earlier movies. Did he figure out that he could survive only with his martial arts (and his wide network of Chinese friends) and stop speaking English as best as possible?

Did Jackie Chan just quit trying?
don't know don't care sorry
Reply:i dunno
Reply:Jackie is a much larger star in the rest of the world than he is in USA.

That notwithstanding, I do not find his english any worse in more recent movies. I do find that less are dubbed over in post production now.

Reply:jackie chan quit hollywood because he was not happy with the roles he got. he was trying to be taken seriously but the roles he got made him look like a clown. hollywood will always do that to non-americans. yes his english has got a lot better but whats the point? he lost respect from his asian fans because of his american movies, even jet li has gone more european.

hollywood is no place for asians, indians, arabs, europeans and africans.

Have 2 create a society or a community 4 a project. rly need help! any good ideas?

ok it has 2 be realistic, a little ways into the future. ive already covered transportation, education, money, government, out of community trading, but if u do have any really good ideas with any of those that would be great. i need a flag, a motto and anything else u can think of! o yea and if u need 2 know like wat the community is based on for like the motto and stuff. its christian, democracy, self-supporting (every house owner is required to field a very small -less than half an acre- area for organic foods.) classes in school are german, french, spanish, chinese, japanese, and self defense( including martial arts, ability to operate guns, and other basic things in cases of emergency). u are only allowed guns in hunting areas. 1 year of college is required, 2 years or more is optional. college classes are -operating businesses, farming, politics, and sum other basics. punishment is labor camps (3 meals a day and not bad working conditions. but still sucks 4 the person)

Have 2 create a society or a community 4 a project. rly need help! any good ideas?
This is your project, you need to use your own imagination. Using other people's imaginations is cheating on your homework.

Is there any place in Singapore where medieval sword fighting is being taught?

Is there any place in Singapore where medieval sword fighting is being taught?

What to do when hit in the pressure points?

I met this old dude who was talking about how he was some kind of martial arts master of some old chinese style involving pressure points and basically it was all bullshit. I wasn't about to believe this fake *ss Dim Mak, Fist of the Northstar McDojo bullsh*t so I slapped him in the face and challenged him on the spot.

I easily managed to beat him but he told me that he struck a pressure point on my body which will kill me in a few days.

I don't think he was lying. I've been feeling really sick lately and I think he really did something. I tried to call 911 and tell them what happened but they just laughed at me. I really don't want to die and I would like to know how to reverse what that guy did to me!

Can anyone help?

What to do when hit in the pressure points?
co to a massauge person. They will find an inflamed spot than go to the doctor and tehy may be able to stop the internal bleading if not its your fault for being a close minded moron liek everyone else on here that says Pressure point techniques are fake. He was in kung fu not some Mcdojo and i bet you got owned. But i do feel bad for you Kung-Fu practioners are not supposed to divuldge in pressure point techniques so yes find a place with swelling. If you don't believe a maseuse or can't drop 75 bucks. Go tell the docotrs one of your martial arts teachers says you havea symptom of internal bleading. Once again everyone whould open up their minds. Pressure points are not mystical there human science jsut liek acupuncture you should all grow up. Oh by the way the pressure point he hit would have pinched slightly and you would have felt a little faint when he striked you my master did it to me once and if its not reversed within seconds you have to go to a hospital because the vein he kinked might be totally destroyed or blocked hope i helped. or if you really got hit you survive.
Reply:Yo man its totally bogus k! right now what you are feeling is physco sematic result of wondering if maybe he was truthful about his exploits. he wouldn't of let you kick his butt if he was who he was and if he did he wouldn't try to kill you that all being said, there is no magic point on the body in which you can touch to kill some one in three days! if so people would be dieing left and right due to bumping into walls and such. feel good that you called his bluff and stand tall, don't let his childish antics scare you into a fever.
Reply:Puh-leaaaase!!!
Reply:It's all psychology, you're feeling sick because subconsicous you're really worried about it. Don't worry, you will be ok.
Reply:dim mak, roughly translated, means death touch. Ive heard of it, but never trained in it, as i like my opponents alive, concious, and screaming. people who have perfected that can hit certain places and interrupt circulation or cause certain blood vessels to hemorage, as well as screwing up your nervous system. thatl teach you to slap old people, young punk.

Help my Husband is obsessed with Tattoos?

My husband wanted one tattoo on his chest (upper right hand sid)of a scorpion and some Chinese letter saying the meaning of his name, he said it was the only one he wanted and he was happy. Three months later he says that his chest is unbalanced and he wants another one on the upper left part of his chest and he gets a dragon with some Chinese lettering that had some Martial Arts saying because he is a 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do. Now he says he wants a back tattoo I feel like this is getting obsessive and I hate when people over do it on tattoos, and I have told him that, and now he is acting like I am holding him back.

Help my Husband is obsessed with Tattoos?
First something about the whole process is additive. That being said, its not like he is making you get matching ink. If I were you I would let it ride UNLESS he wants to do something stupid like get his face or hands tattooed. Basically if it can be hidden by clothes then what is the problem? Eventually his obession will end (or he will run out of skin). In life you have to pick your battles......are you sure this one is worth fighting?

Rider (inked and wanting more .....but waiting)
Reply:in all reality its not your body, its his. thats basically how i see it. your supposed to love him for the person he is...... so why does the fact that HE wants tattoos on HIS body bother you so much? its not like he's making you get them.
Reply:It is his body honey. Let him do what he pleases. My fiance is covered in tattoos. I think I'll survive. Just let him get more tattoos. He'll get bored with it eventually.
Reply:Since when has what other people put on their bodies been anyone elses business but their own? I understand where your husband is coming from, the art of tattooing is beautiful and it is hard to just stop at one or two... if it is making him happy and he is content with it why would you want to try and stop him. Perhaps you could share ideas together and come up with some wonderful tattoo ideas.

good for him. as long as he can afford it, and is taking care of his family, then why are you freaking? let it go.
Reply:I know you are his wife, but it is HIS body and if he wishes to have more tattoos then it really is his decision. Tattoos can be addictive as they make you feel so liberated, but holding him back could let resentment creep in and that's a horrible thing to deal with. My mother hated my tattoos as well until I encouraged her to see what I see, that they are an art form, my skin in the canvass and I decorate it with pieces of art.
Reply:the fact is that tattoos are addictive. many people say one tattoo and end up with a body full. you really need to decide together what to do about it. you should try to keep an open mind and realize that your idea of "overdoing it" and his are probably completely different. i'm sure you would think that i have overdone it but... i would disagree with you. my husband and i have had some issues with tattoos. he has had some reservations about tattoos that i have wanted to get but at the same time he has just as many tattoos as i have and he has gotten them in places that he has expressly asked me not to get them which seems hypocritical. we have talked things out and come to a compromise which is what you and your husband need to do.
Reply:Not to be blunt, but it's not your body and it's not your decision. It's not like he's forcing you to get matching tattoos or anything.

As much as I agree with you about people overdoing it with tattoos and getting things that have little or no meaning to them and only getting things that they think looks cool, I don't think you're in a position to tell him what he can and can't get. At least he's getting them in places that can be easily covered by a shirt.

By the way, you probably should have been prepared for him to want more. The general consensus is that after the pain and/or shock of your first tattoo, it becomes addicting and you want to get more.

And no offense, but you kind-of ARE holding him back. If he already knows how you feel, there's nothing more you can do, so deal with it.
Reply:...sorry, that's the life of a 'tat' man, one is never enough!

Hitting your body?

In many martial arts and in some chinese exercises they promote hitting your body on places such as your kidneys and your heart, how healthy is this for your body? I know that bones grow stronger under stress, is this the same for muscles, and if so is this also true for your organs in some way???

Hitting your body?
This wouldn't be something I'd recommend. There have been some cases of sudden cardiac death after a blow directly to the chest (such as a baseball), so I'd say for sure not to purposely strike the heart. As for the kidneys you could end up bruising them, which could impair function temporarily ( I think permanent damage could result if there were enough bleeding).

As far as strengthening your muscles resistance would be a wiser choice. (Such as weight lifting.) You can't "strengthen" your kidneys, and hitting your heart won't strengthen it, you improve the health and function of your heart just by doing regular aerobic activity that causes your heart rate to increase.

If you decide to do these exercises please make sure you are under the supervision of a very well trained specialist. Good luck and good health!
